Our Story
Our journey has been anything but ordinary.
Susan Rice Campbell, PhD, is a neuropsychologist, researcher, genealogist, and author whose work explores the intersection of science, family history, and the enduring mysteries of human behavior.
Born and raised in Marin County, California, Susan pursued a lifelong passion for learning, earning degrees from Santa Rosa Junior College, Sonoma State University, and the University of San Francisco, where she completed her doctorate in Neuropsychology. She subsequently held postdoctoral appointments at the University of California, Davis Medical Center, where her work included supervising a Memory Disorders Clinic, conducting FDA drug-approval research, participating in operating-room anesthesia studies, and performing clinical evaluations through the Alzheimer's Disease Center.
In addition to her clinical and research career, Susan maintained a private neuropsychology practice, held a California Real Estate Broker's license for more than five decades, and earned a private pilot's license. Her diverse professional experiences have provided a unique perspective on human motivation, memory, identity, and the complex stories that shape our lives.
Susan and her husband, Donald G. Campbell, have been married since 1998. Together they spent ten years traveling the world as enrichment lecturers aboard international cruise ships, visiting all seven continents and more than 160 countries. Their lectures on world cultures, maritime history, piracy, geology, and exploration continue today through community education programs and presentations.
An avid genealogist, Susan has spent countless hours uncovering family histories, tracing ancestral connections, and preserving stories that might otherwise have been lost to time. Her passion for research, history, and uncovering hidden truths serves as a foundation for her writing. Through both fiction and nonfiction, she seeks to illuminate the powerful ways in which the past continues to shape the present.
Susan and Don live in California and share four sons, eight grandchildren, and a continuing curiosity about the people, places, and stories that connect us all.
Donald Glenn Campbell brings a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and global experience to his writing. A graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a degree in engineering and an MBA from George Washington University, Don served for 24 years in the United States Coast Guard, holding both sea and shore command assignments before retiring as a Commander.
Following his military career, he entered the aerospace industry, managing advanced defense and technology programs for Northrop, including work on the B-2 Stealth Bomber. His career later expanded into consulting assignments with organizations such as NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Sikorsky Aircraft, and the British Royal Navy, as well as numerous public and private sector technology projects throughout the United States.
In retirement, Don and his wife Susan spent a decade traveling the world as enrichment lecturers aboard international cruise ships. Together they visited all seven continents and more than 160 countries, sharing lectures on maritime history, world cultures, geology, piracy, and exploration.
Today, Don continues to pursue his passions for genealogy, history, travel, watercolor painting, golf, and storytelling. His diverse experiences—from military command and aerospace innovation to world travel and family history research—bring depth, authenticity, and a unique perspective to his writing.
What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead…
What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn. We write with that same passion to bring to the reader the satisfaction of enjoying a good book.
Why we write…
For most of our lives, we have been investigators. Whether researching memory disorders, tracing family histories, commanding ships, managing complex aerospace programs, or traveling to more than 160 countries, we have always been driven by curiosity and a desire to understand how people, events, and decisions shape the world around us.
Our books explore the questions that have fascinated us throughout our lives:
What secrets remain hidden in family histories?
How does science change what it means to be human?
Can truth survive decades of silence?
And what happens when ordinary people find themselves at the center of extraordinary events?
Through fiction and nonfiction, we seek to tell stories that challenge assumptions, uncover hidden connections, and remind us that the past is never as distant as it seems.
Let’s take that journey together…
